Minimum System Requirements:
- Linux kernel 2.0.x or 2.2.x
- Intel Pentium 133MHz CPU (a PII or equivilent is suggested for the
MPEG videos)
- Ports to the PowerPC and Alpha platforms are planned. There is
currently a beta set of binaries for the PPC available from Loki.
- Some people have gotten it to work under FreeBSD w/ kernel modifications.
- 32Mb of RAM
- 355Mb of hard drive space w/out movies, 572Mb w/ movies
- X running in 16bpp @ 800x600 resolution
- 4x CD-ROM
- OSS Compatible Sound Card
- CTP 1.0 (the version on the CD-ROM) is based on glibc 2.0.
- CTP 1.0 w/ glibc 2.1 (RedHat 6.0, etc.) has a few networking issues.
- The CTP 1.1 upgrade fixes these problems and several bugs. (The patch
is 3.87Mb in size, available from Loki.)
Notes:
- As we found out during the actual presentation ... You will want to have
a system with much more than the minimum requirements. The P133 w/ 32Mb of
RAM that we tried to demo on constantly was hitting swap while trying to load
and play the intro movie. Even after switching to a minimal window manager
w/ no movies, the game was too slow to play.
- No, the game is *not* open source.
- The CTP game box comes with CD-ROM, manual, and reference chart.
- The game has a retail cost of $49.95. Several online stores have CTP
available at a discount (have seen prices as low as $43.95.)
- The MPEG videos on the disc are: The intro movie, the end-game movies,
seperate movies for each wonder, and small rotating objects (movies) for each
unit in the Great Library (online reference guide).
